CBIES ESG REPORT:Green manufacturing builds a low-carbon world

On July 5, 2024, CBIES released the 2024 ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) Report, which included CBIES' social sustainable development in 2023 and plan for 2024 . The ESG report summarizes in detail of  sustainable measures, current achievements and future goals in the three key pillars of environment, social responsibility and governance. 

Environmental

CBIES has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental sustainability through various initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and promoting resource efficiency. The report highlights several key achievements:

1. Green House Gas Emission

2023 Achievement: 180000 tonnes of carbon emitted in 2023 according to our steel purchase volume.

For 2026, CBIES put forward 2% reduction in GHG emission by 2026.

2. Paperless Office Work

2023 Achievement: Reduce the usage of paper;The daily operation almost uses online system as OA,RP,Qarma system makes us reduce 70% paper than 2021.
In the future, CBIES will supply one laptop to the employees with 5+ years of dedicated service to reduce the notebook paper usage.

3. Office Garbage Classification

2023 Achievement: Comply with the guideline of garbage classification.

For 2024, CBIES put forward the 100% Garbage Classification in office by 2024.

4. Zero Emission Transportation

2023 Achievement: Prefer to cooperate with the logistic partner who only use new vehicles of China VI vehicle emission standards.

For the future, CBIES will empower employees with subsidies for New Energy Vehicle purchases by 2024. The company will transfer to low-carbon logistics in supply chain management, reducing diesel dependency and increasing use of electricity and hydrogen.

5. Energy Saving

2023 Achievement: During the summer, the air conditioning must be set at 26 degrees.

For 2024, CBIES will establish office Energy Saving Rules by 2024, including the monthly electricity consumption is lower than the average electricity consumption per capita in China by 18%.

 

Social

CBIES's social responsibility activities focus on improving community well-being, promoting diversity in the whole enterprise, caring the health and safety of the employees. The 2024 ESG report outlines several noteworthy programs and their impacts:

 

1. Training System

2023 Achievement: Established a key talent training system to empower employees in different systems to meet diverse growth needs. Yearly training time per person reached 30 hours. For the future, CBIES yearly training time per person should be reach to 35 hours by 2025.

2. Health and Safety

2023 Achievement:
Annual physical examination 1 time for each employee;
Completed social insurance for all employees;
Completed 1 time national travel for employees.
Target:
0 occupational disease incidence;
Establish employee satisfaction measures system by 2025;
Two family days annually at CBIES;
Year-End Understanding Letter for Employee's Family;
5,000 RMB Illness Condolence Fund for each employees.

3. Dream Building Activity

2023 Achievement: CBIES donated hardware teaching equipment and teaching funds to schools and poor students in impoverished mountainous areas. 

In the future, CBIES continue the Dream Building Fund with a yearly budget of 30,000 EUR to help more children and teachers in rural areas.

 

Governance

The CBIES has made significant progress in enhancing its governance structure to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical business practices. The 2024 ESG report highlights several notable improvements in governance:

1. Governance Structure

2023 Achievement: CBIES commits to an open, transparent, and publicly operated corporate governance system. The Board Committee has proposed the first ESG Plan;3 Female Members in Board Committee. In 2025, ESG Executive Team will be created and ESG report will be published yearly from that year.

2. Legal Compliance

2023 Achievement: 

Every contract with suppliers and customers in OA system should be evaluated by lawyer;

Annual Law Training Conference: 1;

Annual Financial Audit Work: 1;

Financial reports, social security reports, environmental and social reports and other information are disclosed to the public in the national administrative information disclosure system before April every year.

Target:

Yearly Law Training: 2;

Monthly Operational Audit: 12.

3. Supply Chain Management

2023 Achievement: Order approval confirmation sent by Qarma Quality Control System authentically and conduct weekly quality management meetings;Established the 5S Standard for the production Process Management. In the future, CBIES will reduce to 0 violations and compliance by 2028.

 

Future Targets and Commitments

Looking ahead, CBIES has set ambitious targets to further its ESG commitments. By 2030, the company aims to achieve carbon neutrality, increase its renewable energy usage, and attain a higher waste recycling rate. Additionally, CBIES also plans to expand the social responsibility.
